IPX external network number

   In Novell NetWare, a hexadecimal number that identifies a network cable segment, assigned when the NetWare Internetwork Packet eXchange (IPX) protocol is bound to a network interface board in the server. An IPX external network number can have from one to eight digits (1 to FFFFFFFE).
